Creating a quiet moment…
gets harder and harder as the holiday season arrives. I’m not sure if you’re like me, but I find it difficult to spend time with my husband through the festive season. Sure we have parties we attend, plays to see, traditions to hold, but most of those are accompanied by friends and family.
This holiday season let’s do things a bit differently.
Creating a quiet welcoming space that almost begs you to stay longer is the perfect way to set the stage for some simple date nights right in your own home.

A SOFTER TOUCH
A cozy bedroom, not just for the holidays, but for the long winter that’s ahead needs layers of texture. Instead of big and bulky, think layers that can be added or taken away.
Adding soft touches, like this beautiful fur blanket I found at IKEA will be the perfect addition to snuggling in for a movie or a little nightly reading. Throw blankets draped over neutral bedding allow for a pop of seasonal color that can easily be changed throughout the year for a fresh look.
I swapped out our grey linen euro pillows for a pop of wintergreen. Green makes for such a pretty neutral this time of year. Extra throw pillows were added for bedtime stories that are sure to happen the closer we come to Christmas Eve.

BRINGING NATURE INSIDE
The addition to real evergreen branches brings nature inside for us to enjoy the season’s foliage a bit longer. Adding fresh greenery to a bedside vase or a wreath on our standing mirror is a simple way to decorate without being overly done. They’re beautiful and smell amazing throughout the month.

A BIT OF TWINKLE
Whether you adorn a full Christmas tree or just a few candles in your retreat, adding a bit of twinkle to your bedroom cozies a space with low lighting.
Battery-operated candles, like these, are perfect for decorating your dresser, and the light reflected through the mirror is a bonus.
Try forging a few bare branches from your yard to wrap in battery-operated twinkle lights for a subtle hint of Christmas to create a cozy ambiance for your bedside table.

A NOD TO ST.NICK
Simple golden bells add a touch of whimsy to a neutral bedroom. There’s nothing more festive than bells, whether they are grouped on your armoire or paired with a collection of stockings.

A FEELING OF CHRISTMAS
The holiday season can be busy and before we know it the season is over. This year I want to make spending time with my husband a priority, but finding time to get away is nearly impossible. So, I compiled a list of simple dates that most of which you could achieve right in the comfort of your own home.

Cozy welcoming touches added to a bedroom makes staying in a treat for the holidays.
