This year we’re tackling our home projects a bit differently than we have in the past. I’m definitely one to jump feet first into a project when an idea comes to mind, but to help with financing and overall planning for the year we’re creating our first project list to help stay organized!

Mike and I sat down and discussed home projects we’d like to accomplish this year. We’ve lived in this home for nearly a decade and there are still areas we haven’t completed or updated. When we built we mainly went with builder’s grade choices with the plan to invest and slowly make our house a home over time.
With that being said, we don’t plan to live here forever, and we need to focus on updates that will improve our home without investing so much we won’t see a return.
If things go according to our plan, here are our tentative home improvements for the coming year!
NO.1 LAUNDRY ROOM
Our laundry room is in desperate need of some help. The layout is cramped and there is a MAJOR lack of storage. With this being our main drop zone, this project is at the top of our list and we know it will make a difference in the functionality of our home.

NO. 2 BASEMENT & BAR
We’ll we revealing a never before seen space in our home for our basement bar renovation. To be honest this area has been a hodge podge of unused furntiure and decor with no real purpose. We’ll be installing tile floors, building a kitchenette, giving the whole downstairs a fresh coat of paint and styling the entire space!

NO. 3 KITCHEN RENOVATION PHASE I
There are several things I’d love to upgrade in our kitchen, but for this year we’ll be updating only a few. You may or may not have noticed in my stories on Instagram that we have a dangling light bulb from our hood vent. This clearly can’t stay this way, so we’ll be removing the overhead cabinetry and replacing them with a custom faux plaster hood with a built in vent. Our everyday plateware will be housed in a corner countertop cabinet and I’m hoping to update the hardware and faucet too! This will make our kitchen feel brand new and tie in with the recently built faux plaster fireplace.

NO. 4 MASTER BATHROOM PHASE I
Our Master Bath is pretty plain, but the layout works well for us. We are planning to give it a facelift and a bit more storage with new paint, lighting, and mirrors, and replace the vanity section with a 3-drawer cabinet.

NO. 5 LIVING ROOM REFRESH
We are in desperate need of seating in our living room since relocating our gray sofa to Mike’s office and the swivel chairs to our basement. A new sofa is on the way and we’ll be customizing this space a bit more by adding wood beams. We spend so much time in this space I want to make it even more welcoming.

NO. 6 NEW LIGHTING
We’ve slowly replaced the builder grade lighting through the years and this year we’ll be updating our entryway, the master bath, and the laundry room while adding new picture lighting to a few key areas of our home!

NO. 7 SEASONAL STYLING & DECOR FEATURES
As always, I will be seaosnlly styling my home all year long to bring inspiration and new decor finds to you! I look forward to sharing pieces that are timeless and full of neutral texture.
